Warmly welcome to Hanoi, the thousand years old capital of Vietnam. The first time when our King found Hanoi was in 1010. Hanoi had witnessed all the history of Vietnam in thousands years. So, there are many historical sites to visit in Hanoi. Today, we will take you to visit the most major sites in Hanoi. this is very interesting tour, because you will have chance to learn much about Hanoi history and culture.

Discover the ancient temples and alleyways of Hanoi, one of Asia’s most traditional capitals, Hanoi is an irrepressible combination of buzzling mopeds and crumbling architecture. Visiting to Hochiminh Mausoleum is a must! Discover the 11th century Temple if Literature, the world renowned Vietnam Museum of Ethnology and finish the day by walking around Hanoi Old Quater, visit to a local market to see local foods and vegetables that local people come to buy for their dinners.


Tour starts daily at 8:00 AM.

Begin the morning with a visit to the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum and hear about the man who led Vietnam’s campaign for independence from French colonial rule. After dedicating his life to the liberation of his country from foreign rule, Ho Chi Minh died in 1969 and his body was preserved for posterity. During the year, the mausoleum is closed for a month and Uncle Ho is given a bit of a spruce up!

Then wander the grounds to see the Buddhist One Pillar Pagoda, built in the 11th-Century by Emperor Lý Thái Tông and the Presidential Palace. You will also visit the Tran Quoc Pagoda and the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, which focuses on the 54 officially recognized ethnic groups in Vietnam.

In the afternoon, we will have lunch in a local restaurant (ex: Quan An Ngon).

Next, visit the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, the apex of regional political power for more than a millennium where research and excavation is still underway, and then head to another 11th century relic, the Temple of Literature, which was built in homage to the Chinese scholar Confucius.

In the afternoon, visit the Ngoc Son temple set on a tiny island on the picturesque Hoan Kiem Lake. You’ll hear how it got its name from a legend of an emperor, a magic sword and a giant turtle! Take a breezy cyclo ride through the Old Quarter’s 36 streets, named after the products that were sold from their shops. Today, vendors on Tin and Bamboo Streets still sell the same wares. End you day with a delightful water puppet show, a traditional art that is still being performed today.

Trip notes

Please be aware that the One Pillar Pagoda in Hanoi is closed for renovation work until January 2015. Day tours will now visit Ho Chi Minh’s Museum as an alternative touring attraction.

What to bring

  • Comfortable walking shoes/clothes
  • If you’re going to see Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, you must not wear shorts
  • Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum close on Monday and Friday morning. Visitors must be silent, and walk in two lines. Hands must not be in pockets, nor arms crossed. Smoking, photography, and videotaping are also not permitted anywhere inside the mausoleum.
  • The itinerary can be changed due to weather, tide levels and operating conditions.
  • Special request (diet or vegetarian …) should be sent before your departure date.
  • Water Puppet show for Deluxe option only, a traditional performance that dates back as far as the 11th century in the villages of the Red River Delta area of northern Vietnam. Then the tour will finish around 16h30 – 17h00.
  • Bat Trang pottery village will be visited on Mon, Wed & Fri (without Ethnology Museum). Ethnology Museum will be visited on Sun, Tue, Thu & Sat (without Bat Trang pottery village).

Join-in-group tour: You join the tour some other tourists. You share the bus, boat, tour guide, so the price is cheaper. You have to be on time and follow the fixed itinerary and timetable.

Private tour: The bus, boat and tour guide is reserved for your group only. The timetable and itinerary can be flexible. (For private overnight trip to Halong bay, when booking please confirm if you want to take private boat or group sharing).
